Everest has claimed 297 lives and mortality rates are rising. This competition entry aims to reduce the mortality of expeditions by transforming the rudimentary camp-sites used by mountain climbers. With the implementation of prefabricated modular units assembled into an arc shelter, the camps become strongholds, shielding off the elements and revitalising climbers. Each camp features shelter units which provide safe resting spaces and a dedicated medical unit enabling climbers to tend to themselves.

The Tibetan name for Mount Everest 'Chomolungma' means ‘mother goddess of the land’. In an attempt to reduce Everest’s death toll, the proposal seeks to draw from the motherly character of the summit. The proposed circular arrangement is derived for the shape of a motherly embrace, protecting its youth.
